Something we can all use...

What is self discipline?

It is the rejection of instant gratification in favor of something better. It is the giving up of instant pleasure and satisfaction for a higher and better goal.

It manifests as the ability to stick to actions, thoughts and behavior, which lead to improvement and success. Self-discipline is self-control, and it manifests in spiritual, mental, emotional and physical discipline.

The purpose of self-discipline is not living a limiting or a restrictive lifestyle. It does not mean being narrow minded or living like a fakir. It is one of the pillars of success and power. It endows the inner strength to focus all the energy on a goal and persevere until it is accomplished.

And then there were BEARS!!

Did you know there is a bear safari in New Brunswick? Well there is! The Little Big Bear Safari is one of the "Things to Do" on MightyKent.com.

Dirk & I went with some friends and managed to get a few pictures....for some reason they didnt turn out very well. Could have been that it was getting dark, or maybe our hands were shaking from excitement. Anyway, here are a few...

A mother and one of her cubs. She had twins, but the other one is hiding up a tree.

Nine tips for advancing on the path of spiritual growth:
These quotes are an excerpt from the "Visualize and Achieve" e-book

1. Read spiritual and uplifting books. Think about what you read, and find out how you can use the information in your life.

2. Learn to make your mind quiet through concentration exercises and meditation.

3. Acknowledge the fact that you are a spirit with a physical body, not a physical body with a spirit. If you can really accept this idea, it will change your attitude towards many things in your life.

4. Look often into yourself and into your mind, and try to find out what is it that makes you feel conscious and alive.

5. Think positive. If you find yourself thinking negatively, immediately switch to thinking positively. Be in control of what enters your mind. Open the door for the positive and close it for the negative.

6. Develop the happiness habit, by always looking at the bright side of life and endeavoring to be happy. Happiness comes from within. Do not let your outer circumstances decide your happiness for you.

7. Exercise often your will power and decision making ability. This strengthens you and gives you control over your mind.

8. Thank the Universe for everything that you get.

9. Develop tolerance, patience, tact and consideration for others.

We celebrated Dirk's birthday at Pizza Delight in Chatham, buffet style! For the record, his birthday was on October 5th.

Our photo taking abilities seemed to be a little off that day for some reason...a lot of sideways & aerial shots, and some that went over our heads!

Squire was unable to attend the party, but for some reason I've been seeing him everywhere I go today...

A Hoot and a half at Pond's Resort: A Mighty Party!
It couldn't have been a better weekend for a Mighty staff party at Pond's Resort in Ludlow. Staff members from Mighty Miramichi, Kent, and Grand Falls converged on the world reknowned resort for 24 hours of non-stop activities, many of which included the barbecue, and a guitar. What a time!

For almost 80 years the Pond Family of Ludlow, New Brunswick has operated a fly-fishing lodge for anglers of wild Atlantic Salmon on the Main Southwest Branch of the mighty Miramichi River. At Pond's you will experience the ambiance of a traditional lodge with riverside cabins, reminiscent of old time fishing camps; the Old Lodge, complete with great room and river stone fireplace, built in 1927; and traditional recipes from their creative country cuisine. Just look at how much fun we had:

A fierce game of Washer Toss outside the lodge gets ugly when Stacy loses to her sister, Joy and her arch rival "The Gator". The captain, Terry, was called to the site to save the day.

"Forget the carbs, a meal like this only comes once a year" - and this is only Wally's portion

Joy's husband, Dave scrambles two dozen eggs on the Al'mighty barbecue

Canoes are a regular site outside the lodge on the mystical Miramichi River.

Happy Birthday Squire... and Dirk too!

What is up with these people who don't want to celebrate their birthdays? Once again, here we are finding out about a co-workers birthday after the fact.

Dirk received this commemorative collage of pics from his buddy Glen... note Squire looming in the background.

If he had of told us ahead of time (instead of whispering it to Kathleen a day late) we could have turned the weekend staff party into a b'day party as well.

Yes, yes we had a staff party, and although not all of the pics are web-friendly we do have some good ones that Mark will be posting soon.

All together now... Happy Birthday Dirk!

Bartcom Enterprises showcase products and services at Open House

It was open house day on Saturday, September 25 at Bartcom Enterprises, located at 56 Harris Street in the Upper Industrial Park - Newcastle. Although I forgot my camera, Dan's mother, Susan was kind enough to share her digital shots of the event. Visitors had the opportunity of learning about the company's services, their product line, and Baja Boat sales coming next spring. I, who never wins anything, was a lucky winner of a Mercury Racing hat during one of their many draws throughout the day -very exciting! Also, anyone who completed a ballot was invited for a cruise in Dan's speed boat, docked at Ritchie Wharf. If you've never seen it, you likely heard it going up and down the river on at least one occasion. Congratulations to Dan, Pam, and the entire staff for a successful open house!
