“It Pays To Shop Local”

Mighty Miramichi.com, Life Radio and local retailers joined together this year for a Shop Local campaign to promote the Miramichi and encourage local spending.

Every day for 6 weeks, $101 dollars was given away to a loyal Miramichier who shopped locally and filled in a ballot at a participating merchant.

The contest ended on Dec.23rd with a grand prize of $5000 being given to Nancy Allison of Miramichi.

Last night the MVHS Drama Club presented 'A Very Merry Christmas II'. It was a terrific performance with many talented, young people involved. Everyone had a great time. Check out the Mighty Miramichi Photo Gallery for more photos.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick invites the good people of Miramichi to join thousands of volunteers across the province working on the February Person-to-Person Campaign.

“It’s February and by that time we are all anxious to get out. So, this is a perfect opportunity to knock on your neighbours’ door, say ‘Hello!’ and share a bit of warmth and good will. All that for a good cause too,” says Connie Doak, Miramichi Area Co-ordinator.

The Foundation needs volunteer canvassers as well as team captains. “It takes only about four hours,” says Connie. “You can help with canvassing your street, or delivering and picking up packages in your neighbourhood.”

20th Annual Parade of Lights!
We decorated the Mighty Van last night to get it ready for the Christmas parades. Last night was the 20th Annual Parade of Lights in Historic Waterstreet Business District and This afternoon we attended the Santa Clause Parade in Downtown Miramichi

We stickered up the van...*we love stickering... to promote the Shop Local Contest we are doing with Life Radio. By shopping at participating merchants you could win $101/day...and a grand prize of $5000 on Dec 23rd. The winners are announced each morning on Life Radio 101.1FM in Miramichi, and 107.5FM in Blackville. You have to listen to win.

We got a lot of great pics of people watching the parades and of the other floats ... so many that it's going to take awhile to sort through them and get them web-ready. Stay tuned, they'll be coming soon!
