Doris Priscilla Picard
Doris Priscilla Picard, of Tabusintac, NB, wife of the late Vince Picard, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, October 2nd, 2020 at the age of 92. Born in Price Settlement, NB, Doris is the daughter of the late Wesley and Isabella (Harding) Price.
After returning from Ontario, Doris lived much of her working life in Bathurst, NB and most of it in the food service industry. After she retired to move back to Price Settlement (Tabusintac) and cared for her father, a widower. She has lived there ever since, even after his passing in 1997, over 35 years.
Although she had no children of her own, she was mother, grandmother and Aunt Doris to so many, even to those who had no blood relation. Like any favourite aunt, it was always a pleasure to visit her and there was always cookies and squares that were made intentionally and with love, for those very occasions. A fabulous baker, she always made allusions that something was wrong with her latest cake or squares but every Christmas she produced wonderful gum drop cakes for all, wrapped in several layers of foil, wax paper, plastic and brown paper and placed in a can, to our delight.
She loved a good game of cards. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
Doris is survived by two sisters: Helen Payne of South Tetagouche, NB and Vera Smith of Ontario; one brother: Robert Price (Edna) of Miramichi, NB as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doris is predeceased by her parents: Wesley and Isabella; husband: Vince, as well as one brother: Roy.
A graveside service will be held at Stymiest Cemetery, Tabusintac, NB, on Monday, October 5th at 2 PM with Reverend Jean Herman officiating.
