Mr. Ian Archibald Jamieson, husband of Celine (Lynn) Olscamp Jamieson of Dawson Street, Miramichi, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the age of 73 with family by his side.
Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Ian was the son of the late Archibald and Margaret (Rees) Jamieson. He was often called Archie by his many friends in Bathurst before moving to Miramichi in 1983.
Ian’s first priority was his family. He loved his wife dearly and he was very proud that their three sons and six grandchildren all lived within walking distance of their home.
When his kids were young, Ian enjoyed travelling with family, making a backyard rink, being a Cub Scout Leader and coaching the boys’ hockey and baseball teams. As a grandfather, “Baw” was very active in his grandchildren’s lives watching all sports and activities, organizing games at the beach, building beach fires and making endless s’mores. Ian enjoyed hosting his family every Tuesday evening, card games with friends and inviting friends and family to join him and Lynn at the beach on Keith’s Lane in Bay du Vin
Ian was an accountant for over 43 years and was currently employed by Jaden Enterprises. He was also actively involved with many community groups through the years including the Kidney Foundation, Community Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, Ostomy Association, and various programs with St Paul’s Anglican Church.
Ian is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Celine (Lynn) Olscamp; his sons Scott (Christy), Keith (Dr. Melissa McQuaid), and Matthew (Megan) of Miramichi; his beloved grandchildren Brock, Claire, Henry, Daphne, Jack and Katie Jamieson; his sister Gail (late Kelvin) Fox of British Columbia; his brothers Bruce (Shirley) and Frank (Jeanne) of Bathurst. He is also survived by his siblings-in-law John (Ellie) Olscamp, Denis (Sophie), Olscamp, and Gilles (Sharon) Olscamp; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister-in-law, Claire Olscamp and brother-in-law, Kelvin Fox.
A wake will be held at Davidson’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00pm.
