It is with deep sadness the family of Benedict W. Sutherland (Ben) announce his passing at his home on November 20, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Ben was born on February 22, 1935 in Blissfield, he was the son of the late George and Janet (Brennan) Sutherland. He started work at fourteen as a cook at a lumber camp, the went to Fredericton where he worked at the York Flooring Mill, then drove truck for Rideouts Transfer. In the mid sixties he moved back to Weaver Siding bought a truck and started hauling pulp he loved so much. Before retirement he worked as a caretaker at the dean bar camp in Blissfield.
Ben is survived by his daughter Bonnie Veno (Pat) of Blissfield, son Bennie of Blissfield and grandson Chris Veno (Crystal) of Blissfield, sisters Gladys Washburn and Mary McAloon-Jones, brother Gene Colford (Elaine).
In addition to his parents Ben was predeceased by his wife Leona 2020, sister Margaret Hersey, brothers Jim, Paul and Peter Sutherland and Sherman Colford.

Benedict W. Sutherland is resting at Our Lady of Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday November 25 at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Holy Name of Mary R C Cemetery.
In his memory, donations to a memorial of one’s choice would be appreciated.
