1950 – 2023

It is with great sadness we announce that following a period of illness, Myrtle Allain, 72 of Miramichi went to rest on Friday, May 19, 2023, under the watchful care of staff at the Miramichi Regional Hospital and in the company of loving companion Harry Mullin, who was with her until the end.

Born in Boom Road, NB to the late Burton and Sarah (McLean) Harris.

Myrtle enjoyed career in food services which spanned more than 40 years. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Myrtle possessed a unique appreciation for feeding and taking care of others through her career and faith.

Myrtle loved regional music, dancing, crossword puzzles, cards, bingo and any game of skill and chance.

She will be fondly remembered for her compassionate attitude, kindness and the good that she fostered in those she held dear.

She leaves behind her son, Michael Allain (Matthieu); siblings, Merlin Harris, Billy Harris, Lorraine Carrier and Rolla Atwin; sisters in law, Betty Harris, Verna Harris, Lorraine Gable and June Allain; several nieces and nephews; companion, Harry Mullin and his children, Debbie MacDonald (Kevin), Dolores Hare (Fred), Doug Mullin (Carolyn) and his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as the many, many unrelated that whom she touched over the years.

Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, George Allain; siblings, Anne, Louise, John, and Leland Harris; brothers and sister in law, Edward Carrier, Donald Atwin, Leo Allain, Jamie Allain, Albert Allain, Leona and Bill Norton and Glen Gable.

Visitation will be held at Jardine Funeral Home (Davidson’s – Bell’s) 597 Old King George Highway on Monday from 3:00 – 6:00 PM. Funeral service will take place from Jardine Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy in Myrtle’s memory, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund or Miramichi Food Bank. Messages of condolence for the family can be sent through the funeral home website at www.miramichifunerals.ca
