Miramichi's Funeral Announcements Harold Russell McGlashing

The death of Harold Russell McGlashing, long-time partner of Jennifer Dedam of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Monday, May 29, 2023, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, where he passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 73. Born in Truro, NS, he was the son of the late Russell and Norma (Hodge) McGlashing. Harold worked as a manager at various Mills in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, including, Domtar, Blackville Lumber and Costal Millyard and later in life he worked as a Walmart greeter in which he took great pride. He was a member of the Bible Hill Volunteer Fire Department and a past President of the Miramichi Curling Club. He was an avid golfer and was a proud member of the Miramichi Golf and Country Club and a member of the Truro Golf and Country Club in the past. In his spare time, he enjoyed travelling, hunting and fishing and spending time with friends and family. He also had a great love for a good ‘feed’ of lobster with his family and friends.

Besides his partner Jennifer, Harold is survived by his children: Tanya Tarbutton (Dan) of California, USA; David Dedam of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; Eric McGlashing of Calgary, AB; Moira Dedam (Glen), Jason Dedam (Jordan) and Charlene Dedam all of Miramichi, NB; his siblings: Daphna Reid; Lynn Faulkner (Owen) all of Nova Scotia; Rod McGlashing (Ann) of Massachusetts, USA; brother-in-law: Jack Babineau of Nova Scotia; his grandchildren: Zesha Brooks, Jacob and William Tarbutton and Emma McGlashing; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Harold is predeceased by his stepmother: Serena McGlashing, his sister: Carol Babineau, and his brother-in-law: Jack Reid.

At Harold’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life and burial will take place at a later date. The family would like to express thanks and appreciation to the Miramichi Adult Day Program for all of their love, support and care they provided to Harold over the years. As well as a special thanks to the palliative care unit at the Miramichi Regional Hospital for their care provided to Harold during his last days.
